Dig Deeper
Lead by Ian, Dig Deeper is an opportunity to explore the Bible in greater depth than is possible in a normal study group.
Meeting are normally once a month at the Vicarage from 6.30 - 8.00pm on a chosen day, with typically nine sessions a year.
Current Study
The Bible in a Nutshell - Walk Through the Bible – Old Testament
Dig Deeper Sunday 16th February 2025 - 4.30pm to 8.15pm – at The Vicarage
For those who were unable to attend or for those who missed part of the Walk Through event on Saturday 25th January, there will be an opportunity to catch up with what has been missed on Sunday 16th February (or just as a refresher if it was too much to take in everything on the day). The course we did in January had five sections we did 3 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon (though part of the final session was after 5.00pm):
4.30pm – 6.00pm Sessions 1-3 (equivalent to the morning on 25th January).
6.00pm-6.30pm Session 4 (equivalent to the first part of the afternoon)
6.30pm-7.00pm Simple Meal (please let Celia know any dietary needs)
7.00pm-8.15pm Session 5 (including the second part of the afternoon plus the prophets – which took place after 5.00pm) Plus a section on an overview of the whole and of what we have learnt together about God, His character, and His big picture plan in the Old Testament.
Do come and join us for any part or for all, however please let us know (especially about the meal).
By definition, this Dig Deeper session will be brief and will be an overview of the course rather than going into all the detail we did at the end of January. Looking ahead it would be helpful to know who might be interested if we did another Saturday event for the New Testament later in the year.
Previous studies
Sunday 24th November 2024 The Vicarage
6.00pm for Simple Supper
6.30pm Facing Uncertain Times with God’s Certain Promises
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
Major General (retired) Tim Cross very kindly joined us remotely. He has experience of peace making and peace keeping in Northern Ireland, the Balkans, and Iraq. He came with some informative and challenging reflections on the situation in Ukraine, Gaza, Israel, Lebanon and Iran; on how a Christian can be a peacemaker in those places and elsewhere; and on how we individually, as a Church and as a nation can face uncertain times with God’s certain promises. He provided a presentation and responded to a number of our questions and left us with much to ponder upon.
Philippians Oct 23 to July 24
We had previously studied Philippians but decided to look again with a different focus. The aim was that, together, we grow as Disciples of Jesus in our mission of “Making Christ Known”. It was not be so much about how to tell others (though we did discuss that) rather the inspiration, motivation and equipping so that we can together draw upon God and His enabling to fulfil His calling.
